Why you should join Entrepreneur First?

There are lots of barriers to starting a company and statistically nine out of ten startups fail. EF helps remove some of the biggest obstacles by helping you meet your cofounder, develop an idea from scratch, provide training and mentoring, and access to funding from top-tier investors. Our model means that we help mitigate a lot of the risk involved in starting a company and gives you a better shot at success.

Meet your cofounder. You'll have access to the most ambitious engineers in Europe.

We work with technologists at any stage of their career and help them build products people want.

We can help commercialise your research - take what you love from lab to market.

What can EF offer you?

On top of a hand-selected pool of the world's best technologists, we provide training and workshops on topics including B2B sales and negotiation, personal impact, go-to-market strategy, and understanding VC termsheets. We also cover the boring but important things needed to build a startup, including providing 24/7 co-working space,  server hosting credits, and access to startup tax and accounting services.

Help to build your startup from scratch

An environment to work through ideas

Unrivalled post-programme support

Who do we select?

We select people at any stage of their career - from recent Computer Science graduates at Europe’s top technical universities,  to postdoctoral researchers and engineers working at tech firms.  But we don't just go by paper credentials - the people who join EF are usually motivated by:

  • Applying new technology.

You know the tech that you fascinates you, but maybe aren't sure what to apply it to. We can help with that. You might have been working on a side project, conducting postdoctoral research in a technical subject, or have a background working in interesting technical spheres. Our VPs are experts in helping you find product-market fit, even if you're not sure of the commercial possibilities yet. Some of our biggest companies including Magic Pony Technology, Tractable and ThirdEye developed this way.

  • Solving hard problems.

There are too many hard unsolved problems for you to build another data app. We'll help you maximise your skills by working on difficult problems and building products that matter. We can help you connect the dots to develop an idea, but you may already know a domain very well and have spotted opportunities from working in an industry. Some of our fastest growing companies, like ClickMechanic, CloudNC and CaseHub, started this way.

  • A relentless desire to succeed.

The best founders are like honeybadgers; hardworking, utterly determined and undaunted by any task. Technologists who are resourceful, creative and relentless, usually make brilliant founders.

EF8 Selection Process

We select for our cohorts on a rolling basis. The first application period for EF8 runs from July until September 2016. Interviews will be held in October 2016 and offers will be announced in November 2017.

1.  Apply: The deadline to submit an application is 31 September 2016.

We ask all applicants to submit some basic information on their background. We're looking for people working on interesting technology whether that's at university or industry.

If you are shortlisted you will be invited to tell us more about your achievements and your self-identified Edge.

2.  Interviews: interviews run in October 2016.

If we're interested in your background we will invite you to interview.

Technical interview - you will spend 30 minutes demoing one of your technical projects to our engineers and alumni. We want to get a better idea of your technical skills. We will also invite you to take a timed programming challenge, or a domain test.

Founder Interview - our best founders are technically skilled and possess a great amount of drive, ambition and relentlessness. You'll spend 30 minutes interviewing with members of the EF team and alumni who'll be looking to see if you have some of these characteristics.

3.  Final Selection Round: the final assessment day is hosted at our London HQ in November 2016.

You'll get the opportunity to meet other applicants who we think might make great founders and the chance to show your best technical project to the group. You will meet the founders of EF, attend a fireside chat with one of our VPs, and hear from a panel of our alumni. You'll also have a final round interview.

Offers to successful applicants are announced shortly after.

EF8 Starts in March 2017.
