To feed the world by 2050, 450M small-medium farmers need to double food production. But today, less than 5% of their financing needs are met.

FarmLend is developing an agriculture trade finance platform that connects farmers to buyers, guarantees the sale of their produce through forward contracts, and finances the farmer’s working capital needs throughout the farming season.

They’re starting with the Middle East, and have financed their first farmer in the region. They have a pipeline of 100 farmers and 3 distributors of produce that sell to leading global retailers and FMCG businesses.

Abdel was previously the co-founder and CTO of Util, where he built state-of-the-art impact & ESG analytics for global asset managers and impact investors. He is a graduate of Oxford University and the American University of Beirut.
