In our latest podcast, Bernadette Cho (General Manager, Entrepreneur First Singapore) is joined by Michael Blakey (Managing Partner, Cocoon Capital).

Michael Blakey is the Managing Partner and co-founder of Singapore-based venture capital firm Cocoon Capital. Set-up alongside Will Klippgen in 2016, Cocoon adopts a hands-on, founder-first approach to early-stage investing. Before this Michael was an entrepreneur and since 2000 was a full-time angel investor who was named ‘UK Angel Investor of the Year 2015’, selected as one of the Maserati 100 and classified as a ’Business Angel you should know. Having moved to Singapore in 2013 with the hopes of helping his portfolio companies expand to Southeast Asia, Michael noticed an opportunity to create value, specifically at the seed stage, in Singapore’s startup landscape.

Michael shares how founders can nail their first impression, the importance of doing due diligence on VCs, and how Cocoon supports early stage founders to grow into CEOs and CTOs.

‘Smart People You Meet at Parties’ is a behind-the-scenes listen into the everyday conversations we have at Entrepreneur First.

In this new series, we’ll be joined by founders, investors, and thought leaders in deep-tech.
