Tom Shinner
COO
Tom Shinner is Entrepreneur First’s Chief Operating Officer.
He joined EF in September 2019 from the UK government, having served on the main board of two departments – as Director of Strategy at the Department for Education, and then coordinating the technical implementation of the UK’s departure from the EU across all government departments.
Tom started his career at McKinsey & Company, working in the London and Middle East offices. In 2010 he co-founded a thriving Free School in South London. Outside EF, he is a trustee of Unlocked Graduates (www.unlockedgrads.org.uk), a charity working to tackle the damage and cost of prisoner reoffending, serves as a school governor and is on the board of the Downing Street Innovation Fellowship.
