Spore.Bio
Company Summary
Spore.Bio is a Paris-based deep tech startup that develops AI-powered devices to detect bacterial contamination on-site in factories. Their solution combines advanced photonics and machine learning to deliver rapid, reliable pathogen testing directly on the production line—helping food, pharma, and cosmetics companies ensure safety within minutes.
The Problem
Microbiology testing still relies on slow, lab-based methods that take days or even weeks to return results. This delay increases the risk of contaminated products, causes costly recalls, and hampers efficient production cycles.
The Solution
Spore.Bio uses light-based sensing and AI to analyze samples instantly. Their device captures specific spectral signatures and applies trained deep-learning models to detect bacteria in minutes—not days—right on the factory floor. This enables manufacturers to act quickly, prevent contamination, and ensure product safety.
Funding
In February 2025, Spore.Bio raised $23M in a Series A round led by Singular, with participation from Point72 Ventures, 1st Kind Ventures, Station F, Famille C, No Label Ventures, and LocalGlobe. The company previously secured an €8M pre‑Seed round led by LocalGlobe in December 2023.
