We run cohorts in London twice a year, with between 50 and 100 prospective founders taking part.

Many of our companies are securing large investments to scale their technology, such as Tractable who recently raised a $25m Series C round, while others, such as Juno Bio, are starting new conversations in their industries.

We’ve seen several successful exits from our London cohorts, including Magic Pony Technology who were acquired for a reported $150m.

Our community

Our founders join us from some of the world’s top institutions from a wide range of backgrounds and expertise.

You’ll meet people like Sasha, who worked on the science behind black holes with Professor Steven Hawking during her PhD; Rayna, a medical doctor and neuroscientist who has previously worked with the Cabinet Office; and Dave, who turned down an offer from Princeton to join the cohort.

Meet our London community
“Finding that compatibility with someone who understands the problem you’re trying to solve, and who’s also in the headspace to start a company right now, it’s invaluable. To find people like that is tough, and EF just brought all that together for you.”

Q
Can I get a visa to take part in Entrepreneur First London?
A

If you successfully apply for our London programme, we are able to endorse you for either a Prospective Entrepreneur or Startup Visa.

Please note that we can only endorse Visas for successful applicants to the programme, and do not endorse Visas in any other capacity.

Q
Can I apply if I already have a co-founder or business?
A

You can apply if you already have a team, however each co-founder will have to apply as an individual, as we admit people to the programme on an individual basis instead of on their team/idea.

If you have an existing business, and you have taken a very small amount of investment or been awarded a grant, you are still eligible to apply. However, depending on the arrangement, it does sometimes prevent us from being able to invest in your company and therefore prevent us from offering you a place. We deal with these situations on a case-by-case basis and you should email [email protected] for more information.

Q
Do I need to speak a particular language?
A

The programme is run in English, therefore you will need to be comfortable speaking and working in English.

Q
Do I get financial support during the cohort?
A

Yes – for the first three months of the programme, we pay you a stipend of £2000 per month.

If you pass our Investment Committee, and progress to the next stage of the programme, we will make an £80,000 investment in your company in return for a 10% equity stake, and expect you and your co-founder to use some of this to pay yourselves.

Q
Do I need to be in London during the cohort?
A

Under normal circumstances, we ask our cohort members to relocate to take part in the programme. People we select relocate to join us from all over the world, and we are able to support successful applicants in applying for a Visa.

We are currently running our programme remotely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and acknowledge that travel restrictions are likely to hinder or prevent candidates from relocating. The safety of our cohorts, and the locations in which we operate, are our greatest priority, and we are continuously monitoring the situation.

If and when it is safe to return to an in-person programme, we expect to do so, and would expect candidates to relocate to take part when travel restrictions are lifted. We are happy to discuss candidates’ individual needs in these circumstances.

Q
Do I need to stay in London?
A

No, though many companies choose to stay in London. For any company the most important thing is to be close to its customers and sometimes this means relocating to where these customers are. We have companies based in the US, South Africa, Netherlands and China as well as many other locations.

Q
How does investment during Launch work?
A

If your company is offered a place on Launch we invest £80,000 in London in return for a 10% equity stake in your company.
